We have already talked about Smart Glasses for professional use; we already use them for our Help4Tech service, for installation, validation and maintenance. We had also already mentioned the news of the purchase of North (start up of Focals smart glasses) by Google. In these days there is another important news: Facebook and EssilorLuxottica join forces to launch, in 2021, a line of smart glasses in Rat-Ban style, in order to have technology and style.
It was the Ceo of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, to announce it during the annual convention of the companies oft he Group. Thanks to this partnership, Luxottica’s eyewear know-how and design experience will fuse together with the biggest social network’s Apps and technologies. The first product on the market will be a Ray-Ban (Luxottica brand), with the aim to create a smart glasses that is highly technological but, at the same time, aesthetically appealing to wear. This will unite one of the world’s best-selling eyewear brands with the most popular social network. After so many years in which smart glasses seemed to be a product not yet mature for the mass market, we are probably approaching the turning point.
